#OnThisDay 1870 Irish poet & suffragette Eva Gore-Booth was born in Lissadell House, Sligo. Eva campaigned in abolishing the death penalty & helped overturn her sister, Constance Markiewicz’s sentence to life imprisonment after the 1916 Easter Rising. She also attended Roger Casement’s trial in hope of overturning his death penalty too.
